Community Description: The Glen Hazel community, and the Bernice Washington Crawley High Rise are located in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Hazelwood. Along with being a very close-knit family community, where many have raised their families, Glen Hazel is minutes away from the city’s most popular shopping districts: The Waterfront in Homestead, Squirrel Hill, Oakland and West Mifflin (Century III). The Glen Hazel High Rise is a well-secured newly renovated building. This High Rise has one and two bedroom spacious units with accommodations for everyone’s needs. There are many social services offered, including but not limited to: foodbank, healthcare, and a lunch program, that are available right on site.

  • CitiParks
    Provider: CitiParks
    Location: 945 Roselle Court, 1st Floor
    Program Description: Provides congregate meals served daily in the dining room. Also provides recreation/activities (on/off site), weekly shopping trips, information and referral services, and registration for ACCESS and OPT Mon.-Fri. 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
  • Food Pantry
    Provider: Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank
    Location: 945 Roselle Court, 1st Fl
    Program Description: Food distribution to Bernice Crawley residents.
  • UPMC Living at Home Program
    Provider: UPMC
    Location: Usually off-site
    Program Description: Living At Home (UPMC) nurses provide blood pressure screenings once a month, as well as health and educational programming; pharmacist and flu shots when available.
  • Senior Living Enhancement Program
    Provider: Primary Care Health Services, Community Leadership Development Institute, and Ursuline Senior Services
    Location: 945 Roselle Court, Community Room
    Program Description: To improve resident’s overall quality of life, improve resident’s overall health and well being. Improve human services to older adult and disabled residents. Increase social and recreational activities. Expand the capacity of resident councils, and improve linkages between residents and available community resources.

Driving Directions

From downtown, take the Parkway East to the Squirrel Hill exit. Merge onto Beechwood Blvd. Go straight on Beechwood until 4th traffic light at Imogene Road. Turn right on Imogene (which turns into Johnston Avenue). Roselle Court is on the right.

Please Note: Applicants on the waiting list will not be offered apartments at this location until comprehensive modernization, which will include new kitchens, bathrooms, and other improvements, is complete. Completion is currently expected in June 2008.
